May be matching the road to someone’s “filmed in Mexico” high speed run/race since that very much is something police are doing now with so many youtubers/snapchat/instagram/etc. users filming themselves breaking the law regardless of the speedometer being shown.

When I was living in Florida, a cop ran over a kid on a bike while browsing Facebook in his car. They couldn’t even stick a careless driving traffic infraction to him.

Arent those set up for use while driving and arent they trained to use them while driving? Legit question. I always assumed since they would need to run plates, lookup driver info, get directions, and whatever else all the time while in motion then it must be fine. I dont know, I figure if people can hold a liter of scolding hot coffee or a 1lb oozing burger while driving, then using an interface made for in motion use that youre trained to use while in motion might be second nature. Im just happy no one is being shot, so I may be pretty lax right now.

The computers are there for them to use while on the job, but they’re not supposed to use them while in motion unless there’s another officer in the passenger seat. There is no training on how to surf the internet while driving.

They’re supposed to pull over the infractor, THEN run the plates, etc. Not the other way around.

I’m not a cop, but I work for a large police agency...
